The Impact of the Belgian-dutch Merge

چکیده
Undoubtedly the reader has noticed the final step in the merge of the Belgian and Dutch AI communities: the official BNVKI/AIABN logo on the cover of this newsletter. In the last year, the newsletter has made a gradual shift from a mainly-Dutch “nieuwsbrief” to a mainly-English (and hopefully soon, completely-English) newsletter. The impact of the merge is clearly visible in this issue of the first BNVKI newsletter that presents a mixture of Belgian and Dutch contributions and a new section on computational linguistics in the low countries under the editorial responsibility of Dr. Antal van den Bosch. We recommend reading this section and especially enjoying the enthousiasm shown in the writing of the contributions.

The objective of this study was to compare Belgian and Dutch patients regarding the way they perceived the treatment they received and regarding the embryo disposition decisions (EDDs) they made. A questionnaire was sent to patients for whom embryos were cryopreserved at the Ghent ...

We replicated and extended past findings of cross-linguistic differences in word-to-referent mappings for common household objects using Belgian monolingual speakers of Dutch and Frenc...
